I-yaw-nut / Joseph Yanot was born about 1839, the son of Nawoguaykezhick (Etiene/Stephen) and Mary.

In 1850 the family were members of the White River Band under Chief Pay shaw se gay

1853 finds the family moved to the Plate River Band under Chief Kay quay to day

Granddaughter Jennie, daughter of Frank and Madeline, was admitted to Mount Pleasant Indian Industrial School on 9 Sep 1904 for a term of 3 years. She was full blood, Ottawa, age 11. 




Grandsons Will and David, twin sons of William Anewishky and Louisa, were born 9 Jun 1905.

State record of Louisa's death says she was married at 17, gave birth to 7 children, of whom 4 are living. Cause of death was giving birth to twins. Burial was in Peshawbestown, informant was Joe Yanot.



Grandson Will, son of William Anewisky and Louisa, died 25 Jul 1905 at the age of 1 month, 18 days. Cause was not known. He was ailing since birth.

Son-in-law Antoine Gingway died 30 Mar 1913. Cause was pulmonary tuberculosis.

On 5 Jun 1918, grandson Silas registered for the draft. He gave his birth as 27 Jan 1897 in Suttons Bay, Michigan. Father's place of birth as Suttons Bay, Michigan. Employer as South Shore Cedar Co. of Dollorville, Michigan. Nearest relative was Frank Yanott of Suttons Bay. Silas was described as medium height and build, brown eyes and black hair.

Son Francis died 6 Mar 1920 in Suttons Bay, Leelanau, Michigan. His age was given as 52. "Reported cause consupmtion of lungs, no medical attendant." Information was Archie Miller, burial in Peshawbestown.




Joseph died 5 Jul 1920 . His parents were given as Stephen Yanot and Mary Coon. Informant was Archie Miller [son-in-law].



Wife Mary [Theresa] died 4 Jul 1923 in Suttons Bay township. Widow of Joseph, her age was given as 90. Parents were George Wayashe and unknown. Cause was broncho penumonia. Informant was Mrs. John Howard.
