Simon Sacator

 Simon Sacator/Sagato Jr. was said to be born 18 Apr 1876, the son of Simon Sagato and Mary. [Mother's name from Simon's 1920 marriage. His siblings give other names for their mother.]

Simon Sacattor Jr., registered for the draft on 12 Sep 1918 in Escanaba. He was living in Nahma, Delta, Michigan, age 42, born 18 Apr 1876, worked at Bay De Noquet Co., gave wife's name as Mary. Simon was described as medium height and build, with dark brown eyes, black hair. His right hand was deformed.

Simon Sagato Jr., 44, son of Simon Sr and Mary was married 3 Oct 1920 at Indian Point to Mary Ann Bourasau, 33, daughter of Jessie Bourasau and Mary Mitchell. They say it is the first marriage for both.


Daughter Eliza, 18, daughter of Simon Sacattor and Marian Barsaw, was named on a marriage license dated 6 Oct 1922 to marry Peter T. Dayson, 29, son of Joseph Dayson and Madaline Williams. It is marked "No return" which means a wedding did not take place.

Stebbins and Elizabeth Stebbins, his wife, sold to Thomas Antoine, Peter Showandase, Joseph Lightsky, Joseph Redbird and Peter Yaguagezhick, trustees of the Northport Indian Mission, M.E. and their successors in office, for the sum of $15 - land in the SE1/4 of the NW1/4 of Section Township 31 North, Range 11 West.

Identified – front row, fourth and fifth from the left are Josie and Catherine Madagame; third row, second from left is Wah-sa-qum, fourth from left is A-bung-ge-she-mok. Fourth row far right are Stephen Redbird (bow tie), Mrs. Thomas Gilbert (between the two men) and Rev. James Wau-sha-gee-shic (end of row).
