Descendants of William Newton

William Newton, a member of Company K, 1st Michigan sharpshooters is featured here.

While William married three times, he only had children with his second wife, Alice.

"According to a document in the pension files, William Newton states that Alice Mashkeyashe was the mother of his children. I'm not sure if that is the correct spelling because the writing is in cursive. He also states that he was only married for one year to Martha Keywakoum." From a blog comment. Will get the actual pension record as time permits.

Durant field notes 25/55 show the couple having three children: Ben, Martha and John.
