Me-se-naw-sko-day-way, later known as Alfred Sands, was said to be born before 1835. His father was Ge che na gon/Ke che nay gow.
At the time of the 1836 treaty Agosa's band was a part of Aish quay go nay be's band, but separated in 1839.
Rev. Peter Dougherty came to the area now known as Old Mission, Grand Traverse, Michigan in 1838. He built a mission church and school there.
Since the land at Old Mission was not for sale, Dougherty advised the people to save the money from the 1852 annuity payment and buy land in Leelanau county.
On 1 Nov 1852 Ge che na gon purchased land - SW1/4 of the SE1/4 of section 26, T31N R11W consisting of 40 acres.
Alfred was an adult by 1855 when he was listed on the land allotment roll, #856, picking SE1/4 of the SW1/4, section 25, T31N, R11W, 40 acres. [This is not the same land description he received patent on in 1872]
Father John Ke che nay gow was listed on the land allotment roll, #864, picking S1/2 of NE1/4 of section 32, T31N R11W, 40 acres.
