George Rapp


George Rapp was born as early as 1809 (1900 census says age 90) to as late as 1833 (1870 census says age 37). He was said to be the son of George Rapp and Annawamire Kakeahekkokkoi.

George married Victoria Mousse, the daughter of Alexander Laurent Mousse and Henrietta Pokagon on 18 Dec 1854 in Cass county, Michigan. Alexander was the son of a French father and Odawa mother. Henrietta was the daughter of Chief Leopold Pokagon

Son David was said to be born 7 Mar 1855

Daughter Betsy was said to be born 7 Apr 1858 [from death certificate]

Daughter Alice Cecelia, 19,  was married to Frank J. Hamilton, 20, on 9 Nov 1896 by the Catholic Priest in Dowagiac.






Daughter Angeline died 25 Oct 1897 in Covert, Van Buren, Michigan. Her age was given as 23, married, parent of 3 children, of whom 2 are living. Parents were given as Geo. Rapp and Victoria Masa. Burial was in Rush Lake Cemetery. Cause of death was dysentery, miscarriage, and loss of blood. 



Son David died on Thanksgiving day, 30 Nov 1899 [death certificate not found]

George died 7 Feb 1901 in Bangor, Van Buren, Michigan. He was listed as widowed, parent of 5 children of whom 1 is living. He was a framer, born in Canada, age and date of birth impossible to find out, parents not known. Burial in Indian Cemetery in Hartford township. Cause of death was given as chronic diarrhora, senile collapse.

Betsy died 23 Jul 1922. Her birth was given as 7 Apr 1858. She was married to Patrick Alexis



Anthony, 42,  was married to Margaret Bushman, 46, in Dowagiac,on 13 Nov 1903. He states he was married once before.




Anthony died 10 Dec 1945 in Silver Creek, Cass, Michigan. His birth was given as 4 Jul 1861.

Andrew married to Lucy Schiabro Masta on 22 Aug 1881 in Hartford, Van Buren, Michigan.

Andrew died 13 May 1938 in Hartford, Van Buren, Michigan



Angeline was married to Isaac Moody/Setone, 2 Mar 1894. (see above) She died 25 Oct 1897 (see above)

Alice Cecilia was married to Frank J. Hamilton (see above). She died 28 Mar 1919 in Dowagiac, Cass, Michigan.
