Naw we ke che gaw me quay was said to be born in 1781 (age 110 on her death certificate in 1891). It is more likely she was born closer to 1820. It can be proved that she is considered a grown woman by 1855, with no children in her household, meaning living child is also grown.
Daughter Mary Ann / Marian was said to be born as early 1825 (age 80 on her death certificate in 1905). She was age 29 at her marriage in 1868 (born 1839); 32 in 1870 (born 1838); age 34 in 1880 (born 1846 but notice she only aged 2 years in the 10 years between censuses); and age 68 in 1900 (born 1831). She is not with her mother as a child in 1855, and according to the Durant Roll Field Notes had a marriage prior to 1868.
It is most likely that Mary Ann was born in the late 1830s and therefore with her first husband by the 1855 annuity roll. Unfortunately his name is unknown. This would suggest that Naw we ke che gaw me quay was born about 1820 and in her late teens/early 20s when Mary Ann was born.
I believe Naw we ke che gaw me quay to be a widow in 1855. In prior years she would have been in her husband's household. His name is not yet known. While Mary Ann's father is given as Joe Lickenwegan and Joe Tickennegan on her marriage and death records, neither of those spellings are in the annuity rolls. It is possible that his name ends in we gwan, we gwin, we gwon, or we gwun.
"Nahwichoguhnequa" was baptized of 5 Aug 1855 by Rev. Peter Dougherty at the Grove Hill Presbyterian Church in Omena. She was given the name Margaret.
