Pay-shaw-naw-quo-um

Not much is known about Pay-shaw-naw-quo-um. He is listed (as Pash au o quang) in the 1839 annuity roll as number 51, Band or Village of Grand Traverse. Family consisted of one man, one woman and two children and received a payment of $35.36

His name is next found as Pashawnaquong, when he purchased 40 acres - NW 1/4 of SE 1/4 of section 2, township 29 north, range 9 west (Milton township, Antrim county Michigan)- at Ionia Land Office on 1 Apr 1850 - document #7031

1855 annuity roll - Pay shaw naw quo um, #22, 1 man, 1 woman, 2 children, received $33.28 under Grand Traverse Chief Aish quay go nay be

1858 annuity roll - Pay shaw naw quo um #19, 1 man, no woman, 2 children, received $12.63 under Grand Traverse Chief Aish quay go nay be.

1861 annuity roll - Pay shaw naw quo um, #14, 1 man, 1 woman, 1 child, received $13.86, under Grand Traverse Chief Aish quay go nay be. Son Naw o quay ke zhick is now head of his own household, #16, 1 man, 1 woman, 1 child, received $13.86

Since Pay shaw naw quo um is not listed on the 1865 annuity roll, it is believed he died between 1861 and 1865. His sons (Naw o quay ke zhick #12) and (Naw we ge zhe go #20) are each listed as 1 man, 1 woman, 1 child; each received $12.00 under Chief Aish quay go nay be.

Pay shaw na quo um's name is last recorded in the land records of Antrim county on 4 Feb 1867 when Peter Mark Nahwaygezic and Martin Nockwegezic are named sole heirs of Pashawnaquong - NW 1/4 of SE 1/4 section 2 T29N R9W - Milton township.

It is not known if Peter and Martin are the two children from the 1839 roll or if one or both of those children died and these men are younger.

There is another man, Joe Marks, referred to as Peter's brother on the Durant Roll and Mary, wife of Jacob Sogod is said to be Peter's sister. It is unlikely Joe and Mary are the children of Pay shaw naw quo um as there are only two children on the annuity rolls and only two (Peter and Martin) inherited the land. It is possible they are the children of Peter's mother.

Paul Wasegesik 1923-1929

Paul Wasegesik was born 23 Jun 1923 in Alba, Antrim, Michigan, the son of Joseph Wasegesik and Josephine Madagame. Sadly Paul lived on very short life.

On the 30 Sep 1929 Paul  was the victim of a auto accident in Leelanau county.

The Suttons Bay Courier of 3 Oct 1929 told of Paul's burial at the Catholic cemetery in Peshawbestown. His grave is unmarked.

Immaculate Conception Church (now St. Kateri)

The Suttons Bay Courier of 3 Oct 1929 also told of the accident and those injured - Paul Wasegesik, Frank McSaby, Sam Ance, Madeline Ance Pabo, and the unnamed son of Mary Wasegesik Waukazoo.

The Suttons Bay Courier of 10 Oct 1929 told that Madeline Pabo and Sam Ance were still in serious condition in the hospital, while Frank McSauby was recovering and the Waukazoo boy was home from the hospital.

John Karrow / Carow

John Carrow was born c1840, the son of Joseph Carrow and Mary Ann Kelegekwanebe. Age from census records. His death record gives his birth as 17 Apr 1838.  His father, Joseph married Catherine Athenemis on 8 Feb 1835 on Mackinac Island, Mackinac county, Michigan. Joseph then married Mary Ann Kelegekwanebe on 2 Jul 1840 on Mackinac Island, Mackinac. It is possible John was the child of Catherine instead of Mary Ann if he was actually born in 1838.

Father Joseph died 25 Jul 1863 in Mackinac county.

Son Reuben was said to be born 24 Jun 1865, but John is unmarried with no children in 1868.
