Mother Julia died 26 Nov 1926 of heart disease. Her age was given as bout 62 years, daughter of Peter Shanonga.

In May 1957 son Francis confessed to a murder that took place four years earlier. He had been released from Ionia reformatory only 5 days earlier. The police tried to piece things together around the holes in Francis' story.

"Peshawbestown - Gerturde Marie (Schocko) Cook, 69, of Peshawbestown, died Monday, September 17, at her home.
Gertrude was born on January 3, 1932, in Omena, the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Allen) Schocko). She received her high school diploma from Farris State University. She was employed as a nurse's assistant for many years both at Munson Medical Center and Leelanau Hospital. She was a member of the Kateri Tekakwitha Church and the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians. Gertrude enjoyed reading, bingo, and traveling, especially to the Upper Peninsula.
Gertrude married her first husband, Willard Weese in 1958 and is survived by their children; Rose Marie Weese and Francis Joseph Weese. She then married Roger Jerry Cook and is survived by their children; Margaret Ann Barajas, Elizabeth Joan Cook, JoAnn Miller and Patricia Mary Aguayo. She is also survived by one brother Francis Stevens; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Gerturde was preceded in death by her parents; ex-husbands; sisters, Julia, Beatrice, and Lillian; brothers, Earl, Roy, Elmer, and Leroy; and daughters, Debra Kay Weese, Kathy Weese and Sally Weese.
A Rosary was conducted at the Martinson Funeral HOme on Wednesday, September 19, and then continued with a wake service at the Kateri Tekakwitha Church. Funeral services were held on Thurday, September 20, at the Kateri Tekakwitha Church with Rev. Walter Anthony officiating, and burial was in Kateri Tekakwitha Cemetery."
