Charlie/Charles Crane was born c1873 in Custer, Mason, Michigan. He was the son of Pay-baw-mesay and Waw-saw-tin-no-quay. The Durant Roll Field Notes suggest he was also known as Scott Crane, son of Charles.

On 1 Mar 1902 Charles Crane, 24, Indian, resident of Alden, born Custer, Michigan, laborer, son of Scott Crane and Sarah King, obtained a license to marry Mary Martin, 21, Indian, resident of Alden, born Elk Rapids, housework, parents unknown. The license was not returned to show the marriage took place.
Daughter Mary was born 5 Feb 1903 in Antrim County, Michigan, daughter of Chas. Crane and Mary Mark, both born in Michigan. Baby Mary died 17 Sep 1903 of Summer Complaint, and was buried in the Kewadin Cemetery.
Wife Mary died 19 Jun 1904. Her birth was given as 19 Aug 1979 in Antrim county, parents as Martin Mark and Nancy John. Cause of death was consumption, burial in Kewadin. Informant was C.C. Crane.

Charlie died 27 Aug 1932. His birth date was unknown, age about 62, born in Pentwater, parents unknown. Cause of death was accidently burned over 1/2 of body surface. Burial was in Elk Rapids, informant was Sam Nada.
