Helen Isaac Theodore Pego

 Helen was born in 1897, the daughter of Charles Isaac and Jennie Antoine. Her father, Charles, died in 1901. Her mother, Jennie, married John Theodore on 4 Apr 1903 in Ludington, Mason, Michigan.


Helen was married to Burt Motay Pego, date unknown. His previous wives were Emma Cary who he married on 24 Jun 1895, she died in Dec 1895; Nancy Lewis, who he married on 10 Feb 1902, she died 15 Oct 1909, their daughter Ida was born 12 Sep 1909 and died 14 Oct 1909; and Maud Wabindato, who died 23 Apr 1914,their daughter Agnes was born 17 Mar 1914 and also died 23 Apr 1914

Son Douglas was born 26 Apr 1917 in Benzie county, Michigan. Douglas was raised by Emma Jean Lewis, the sister of Bert's wife Nancy. Emma was married in 1907 to Louis Aikens, who died in 1907; in 1913 to Frank E. Pierson, who died in 1943, and to Verne Austin.

The only member of Helen's family remaining was son Douglas Pierson.

On 29 Aug 1928 Douglas was admitted to the Mount Pleasant Indian School in Mt. Pleasant, Isabella, Michigan. His tribe was Chippewa, parents Frank E. Pierson of Muskegon Heights, 1/2 blood, age 11. [Was he actually 1/2, only Helen's child, not Burt's; or was he listed as 1/2 because Frank Pierson was white?]

Son Douglas died 30 Nov 1985. His obituary named two sons and two daughters as survivors. It also mentioned 5 brothers and 1 sister as surviving. Was it possibly referencing the deceased children of Burt and Helen?
